The future of design looks very bright! At Posture, we are proud to bolster the next generation of professionals. This spring, we were joined by two interns from right here in NEPA: Joe Costa, an entrepreneurship major from the University of Scranton, and Sabrina Resuta, a graphic design major from Marywood University. These two are so creative and ambitious, we were lucky to have them!
Where are you from?
Joe: Monmouth County, New Jersey
Sabrina: Chalfont, Pennsylvania
Why did you choose your major?
Sabrina: When I first came to Marywood, I was an Illustration major. After taking my first graphic design class, I knew I had to switch. Learning to use programs like Illustrator was so exciting that I knew I would enjoy graphic design far more than illustration.
Joe: I was originally a business administration student. After starting my own clothing brand called Dear Ermina, I found my passion in designing and building the brand. So, I thought the switch would be beneficial to my future.
What inspires you?
Joe: My main source of inspiration is (my group of) friends who I work closely with on my brand. Setting goals and picturing what I want to be also pushes me to be better.
Sabrina: I take inspiration from my life experiences.
Why were you interested in interning at Posture?
Joe: I wanted to intern at Posture to expand my knowledge of design and take on tasks that would challenge my skills and help me improve. The atmosphere was a major factor as well. Being in an environment surrounded by so many creatives that I can learn from is very important.
Sabrina: I took a class taught by Joey Zarcone. I was very interested in the real-world examples he would show from his work with Posture. After looking into the work that Posture does, I knew it would be a great place to learn new skills and get experience in the field.
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Joe: I wanted to own an ice cream shop or be a movie producer.
Sabrina: I was split between wanting to be a veterinarian or an artist.
Tell us about your first Internet memory.
Sabrina: It would have to be when I was in the elementary school computer lab. My best friend and I would always play Fire Boy and Water Girl together.
Joe: From what I can recall, I was playing CoolMathGames and watching a lot of YouTube.
If you could switch places with one person for a day, who would it be?
Sabrina: Maybe (19th-century French painter Claude) Monet. Impressionism is one of my favorite art movements and it would be amazing to be able to experience his process and get to paint one of his gorgeous landscapes.
Joe: I would definitely switch lives with (celebrity chef and restaurateur) Gordon Ramsey mainly because I just love to cook and it would be interesting to step into his mind of recipes for the day.
What else is going on in your life outside of school and Posture?
Joe: I am currently in my last semester of college. I am really just trying to soak up the time I have left with the friends I made at school. I also enjoy spending time with my girlfriend and working on my brand.
Sabrina: I always enjoy baking and trying out different ice cream recipes. Otherwise, I love playing board games with friends and family, and when the weather is warmer, I enjoy biking and kayaking.
If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Sabrina: My dream is to visit Norway to see the fjords, go dog sledding, and of course see the Northern lights!
Joe: I would visit the Amalfi Coast in Italy.
Photoshop, Illustrator, or Indesign?
Joe: 100% Photoshop.
Sabrina: It would have to be Illustrator.
