At Posture, we have many roles – but one of the most important roles is that of storyteller. We work with a variety of businesses and organizations that have so many great stories to tell. While we create visually compelling designs, video, and websites to help tell your story, YOU are who people want to hear from! Sometimes, it’s tough to know where to start, though. That’s why we’ve compiled our top 4 tips for telling your brand story below.
1. Be authentic.
No one wants to be spoken to like they’re in a textbook – keep it simple. Avoid flowery language or technical industry-speak that will alienate people outside your business walls. If you make a mistake or misstate something, own it. That will be received much better by your audience and make you more relatable – pobody’s nerfect!
2. Know your audience.
Do you know your core audience online? Where are they located? What kinds of careers are they in? What does their home life look like? What kinds of social platforms are they on? All these questions can help you better understand your ideal audience segments and can help inform the language and tactics you use while telling your story.
3. Strike an emotional connection
We love using colorful adjectives to help convey a story more vividly. Using humor when appropriate can have great results as well – readers engage with positive stories that make them laugh. Add surprising facts, too – consumers like to learn something new.
4. Involve other people in your story, too.
In the world of social media, we LOVE “user-generated content” because it adds to the authenticity of your story. Get people talking in the comments and be sure to comment BACK on their posts if you’re tagged. Share customer quotes, re-share posts, and tag fellow businesses and community partners when you can. The more you spread the love online, the more eyeballs the respective platform algorithms will help you reach (hint: this is why people do contests on social media where you have to like and share a post).
No matter how you spin it, humans always love a good story. So give them something worth reading that helps reinforce your brand along the way!
